Chief Instructor

Ng Chuen SerNg Chuen Ser is the Founder and Chief Instructor of V3 Aquatic Club Pte Ltd and the Singapore Life Guard Academy. He started his formal swimming training since the age of 7, and was awarded SLSS Lifesaving Qualifications and the Singapore Amateur Swimming Association (SASA) Swimming Instructor Certificate in the mid 80's. He has been sharing (teaching) his water sports hobby since then. His passions have grown, together with his higher and further training and experience, over all these years. Several of his students have achieved the NROC registration as swimming coaches, and SLSS lifesaving instructors.

Chuen Ser is a registered Swimming Coach with the National Registry of Coaches, Singapore (NROC), accredited Aquatic Educator and Assessor with SwimSafer (the National Swimming and Water Safety Programme), certified Federation Internationale de Natation (FINA) - International Swimming Federation Level 2 Swimming Coach, and a member of the Singapore Swimming Teachers Association (SSTA). He is also a current Singapore Sports Council (SSC) appointed Facilitator for the National Standards for Youth Sports (NSYS) workshop.

Chuen Ser is a Singapore Life Saving Society (SLSS) registered Lifesaving Teacher and Examiner, and serves as Mentor to lifesaving trainee-instructors. He published a few papers in RESCUER, the SLSS quarterly newsletter, and presented in the SLSS Annual Lifesaving Seminar. He has served as key Competition Official (Chief Referee, Chief Placing Judge, Chief Inspector of Turn...) of the National Lifesaving Championship over the years. He is also an elected member of the SLSS Executive Committee (EXCO), the Awards Committee, and Section Editor of the Life Guard Manual Editoral Committee.

Chuen Ser is a Singapore Medical Association / Singapore Nurses Association (SMA / SNA) appointed Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and CPR + AED Chief Instructor and Instructor Trainer - accredited by the National Resuscitation Council (NRC), who helps conduct SMA / SNA courses for Doctors, Nurses and General Public. He is also a certified First Aid Lecturer and Life Support Instructor with the St. John Ambulance, Singapore; he has served as Competition Judge for the Zone and National First Aid and Home Nursing Competitions.

Chuen Ser is one of the few Divers Alert Network, Asia Pacific (DAN AP) licensed Level 2 Oxygen and First Aid Trainer in Singapore, who is qualified to conduct all DAN AP courses, including all level of First Aid Programs, Oxygen and Advanced Oxygen Programs, CPR, AED, First Aid for Hazardous Marine Life Injuries and On-site Neurological Assessment.

Chuen Ser is a British Sub-Aqua Club (BSAC) life member and Nationally Qualified Instructor. He is the only few who have achieved the BSAC Divers Rescue Specialist Award in Singapore. He has collected a wide range of Skills Development Certifications: Lifesaver, Advanced Lifesaver, First Aid for Diver, Oxygen Administration, Practical Rescue Management, Search and Recovery, Dive Marshalling and Planning, Advanced Diving Techniques, Boat Handling, Chartwork and Position Fixing, Nitrox Diver, Advanced Nitrox Diver, Extended Range Diver, Trimix Diver, Gas Blender… etc. He has also achieved certifications from International Association of Nitrox & Technical Divers, USA (IANTD) and Technical Diving International, USA (TDI). He is the Founder and Diving Officer of the BSAC branch 2377; and served in the committee of the BSAC Regional Coaching Chapter (Singapore).

Chuen Ser is the Managing Director of an Information Technology Consulting Firm. He stayed in London for 8 years, pursuing his higher education and engaging in research in computer architecture at The Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine; and also worked as a Teaching Assistant (Tutor), conducting tutorial classes and computer laboratory sessions for both undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Chuen Ser is a Specialist Staff Officer of the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF), holding the rank of Captain (NS), decorated with the Good Service Medal and the National Service Medal. He is also a life member of The Singapore Scout Guild, awarded The Singapore Scout Association Centennial Silver Medal.
